Knowledge transfer, exchange of experience and networking
We would like to pass on our experience and knowledge from various projects on the prevention of inhuman and anti-democratic attitudes to educational professionals, political educators and multipliers. This is why we regularly organize conferences on various topics, issues and current challenges in prevention work. These range from one-day conferences to summer schools lasting several days. At our conferences, we want to give participants the opportunity to engage intensively with new approaches, reflect on their own work and adapt it to current social changes. It is also important to us that participants can learn from each other and exchange ideas. After all, our events are also intended to contribute to the networking of prevention work throughout Germany and Europe.
Summer School: educational festival for social work, right-wing extremism prevention and political education
Cultures Interactive regularly organizes a summer school on the prevention of right-wing extremism in youth (social) work. Professionals from the fields of social work, right-wing extremism prevention and political education come together for several days in the summer at an educational institution to learn from each other, exchange ideas and network in specialist lectures, workshops, discussion rounds and workshops on the prevention of attitudes that are contemptuous of people and hostile to democracy. Each day has its own theme and begins with a specialist lecture on the focus of the day. Workshops then offer in-depth insights into the topic of the day, before what has been heard and experienced is reflected on in a workshop in the late afternoon and transferred to the participants' own work context.
From Walchensee to Zeitz - the summer school from 2018 to 2023
The first summer school took place in 2018 in the Bavarian foothills of the Alps at Walchensee. For five days, the participants devoted themselves to youthcultural and mediapedagogical approaches to the prevention of grouprelated misanthropy, right-wingextremism and religiously motivated extremism. In 2019, the event then moved to Oldau in Lower Saxony. This year, the summer school focused on various approaches to youthcultural work and political education between prevention and intervention.
In 2020 and 2021, the Summer School had to take place online due to the pandemic. In 2020, the focus was on the tension between online and offline prevention services and digital opportunities for action in youth (social) work. In 2021, the participants of the summer school dealt with the prevention of right-wing extremism in the various phases of life. In 2022, the Summer School was held in Berlin as a shorter symposium due to the pandemic: Under the title “Nothing but crisis(es)?”, the focus this year was on the effects of the multiple social crises on young people and youth work.
In 2023, the summer school was able to take place again as usual. For five days in Zeitz in June 2023, the participants intensively discussed the changing requirements of right-wing extremism prevention for youth (social) work. Next year, the Summer School took place in a shortened form: as a two-day practical workshop on approaches, approaches and experiences of youth (social) work in the prevention and confrontation of right-wing extremist, anti-human and anti-democratic attitudes.
