Strengthening human rights

Hip hop, techno, punk, YouTube, parkour and skateboarding are forms of youth cultural expression that interest young people. We make use of this in our youth culture workshops, in which we combine lifeworld-oriented political education with various youth cultures. Together with young people, we DJ, spray, dance, skate and much more. Our many years of experience show that we can strengthen democratic attitudes and critically reflect attitudes of group-hatred with youth-friendly approaches and creatively practiced youth cultures.

Experiencing democratic values

For example, breakdancing, comic or YouTube workshops can be used to create informal learning spaces with young people that promote emancipatory and considerate interaction. Dealing with social issues is also a central element. Values such as justice, diversity, solidarity and co-determination, which otherwise often remain abstract for young people, can be experienced in practice through youth cultures. The experience of being able to participate creatively and culturally also strengthens democratic action and responsible interaction with one another.

Sustainable support for local youth work

Time and again, we experience that we can provide sustainable support for regional youth work with exemplary youth cultural work measures on current socio-political issues. Our participative offers for young people and their adult environment include workshops, project days, open spaces, future workshops, peer-to-peer training, social space inspections, situation assessments with regard to attitudes if group-hatred and violence as well as resource analyses for the respective environment.

Youth cultural focus

The project day is based on the stories, experiences and interests of the young people. In the first half of the workshops, we therefore talk to them about their lives, their hobbies and what moves them. We also provide an insight into different youth cultures. In the second half, the young people become active themselves and can try their hand at a youth culture. In order to find out what interests the young people, you will find brief descriptions of the various workshops here.

Beat production

What does it actually take for the beat of your favorite song to sound so recognizable? And which sound should never be missing in a track? In our beat production workshop, you can try your hand at making beats yourself.

DJing

Have you always wanted to try out for yourself what your favorite DJs show on TikTok? Find out what it feels like to not only listen to your favorite music, but also play it yourself in our DJ workshop. We'll talk about the techno scene and club culture, its admission policy and how stupid it can feel to be excluded.

Gaming

Welcome to the workshop on digital game worlds, where we turn your story into a game! We will explore different types of gamers, the diversity of game genres and look at which elements make a game or quest really exciting. With our game 'Adamara' and the corresponding editor, you can program your story as a game. Are you interested in character design, storytelling or world-building? Then you've come to the right place.

Girlpower/Assertiveness

Do you actually know how strong you are? Find out in our assertiveness workshop for girls! You'll learn how to say no, even if it's sometimes difficult, and what you can do if your boundaries are crossed. You can talk to your friends about your own experiences and learn from each other how you can support each other if someone makes a fool of you.

Graffiti/Streetart

The Urban Art Lab takes you on a journey through time, from the history of graffiti to current topics. We will discuss the artistic scene in your area and discover the different styles that characterize the walls. Let's explore together the many facets you already know and develop new motifs. There will be stenciling, spraying and no limits to your creativity! The workshop is for everyone who is ready to conquer new places with color and expression.

Parkour

Have you ever climbed a wall, balanced on a fence or jumped over a bench? With parkour, you can rediscover your city or town as a huge adventure playground. It's not just about jumping over obstacles and learning new tricks. It's also about recognizing and overcoming your own limits. We also talk about your area, leisure activities and how you can make a difference.

Rap

In the Cypher Studio, everything revolves around your passionate love for hip hop, be it German rap or other sounds that pick you up. We dive into the history of rap, analyze the diverse elements of hip hop and current topics. We dissect lyrics, explore artists and their unique styles. But we don't just make music on paper: we bring your ideas to life, let rhymes flow and try to develop your tracks together.

Social Media

Fancy discussing your social media skills or your feed? In the workshop, we'll talk about your digital life. Where are you active? What picks you up? What are the topics you come across? We'll talk about different platforms, influencers and their strategies, differences and challenges. We'll talk about how you can navigate the web smartly and safely, but also about creating interactive reels.

Skateboarding

Have you ever stood on a board? No? Or do you do it every day anyway? Let's go! Here you have the opportunity to find out a bit more about skating and learn a trick or two. We also want to talk together about skate parks and similar places that may already exist in your area and how you can actively help shape them.

Dancing

What kind of music accompanies you in your everyday life and what genre do you like to dance to? Do you move at all when music is playing? If you want to learn steps and develop your own choreography, then this is the place to try it out. You don't have to bring any dancing experience. Together we want to develop a feeling for the music, the rhythm and your own body. Dancing offers you an opportunity to let go, whether alone or in a group. It's about having fun and getting moving.
