Overcoming anti-Semitism through engaged dialogue

Being able to engage in an in-depth conversation about emotionally and ideologically charged topics is as challenging as it is important. This makes it all the more important to maintain and strengthen your own ability to engage in dialog, even in difficult situations and with hard-to-reach target groups. This is the only way to reduce the increasing tendencies towards polarization, conspiracy thinking, mutual devaluation and anti-Semitism.

Trainings for civil society activists, youth and adult educators in Berlin

This is particularly helpful for those who are committed to social cohesion, rapprochement and human rights: Anyone who wants to engage in committed discussions in associations, churches, the fire department, local political associations, universities, cultural scenes or youth and adult education, for example, is dependent on good preparation for dialogue in order to find an objective, personal exchange and effective debate, even in the case of emotionally charged issues.

Experience has shown that the various forms of anti-Semitism in Germany pose the greatest challenges. The central communicative tasks in dealing with this are to absorb emotions, clarify individual concerns, create mutual understanding and address prejudice, resentment and anti-Semitism. It is also about presenting facts and talking about shared basic values - so that we can dare to engage in more dialogue and commitment in the future.

Capturing emotions, promoting understanding - addressing resentment and group hatred

In order to prepare civil society activists in Berlin for challenging conversations, Cultures Interactive offers training courses on dialogue skills in polarized situations characterized by ideologization, conspiracy narratives, anti-Semitism and group hatred. In doing so, we want to jointly qualify discussion facilitators and create intervision groups for colleagues from different areas of Berlin's civil society. The main aim is to be able to deal better with heated and procedural discussion situations in our respective environments - and to pass on the knowledge we have acquired to others. In the medium term, we are also planning a certified training course for civil society discussion facilitators.
